I love you, darling. If I am any good at all at this mad adventure it’s because of you. You are the most amazing coach, friend, cheerleader, marketing guru, snuggler… I love photographing weddings because every single time I get choked up at the way two people in love look at each other… I think of you. You are more than I could have ever imagined I would have in my life. I love you…

And I’m soooo excited to run away to Devil’s Thumb Ranch with you. I promise no cameras… just you and me and yummy celebratory champagne and ridiculously good food and hours and hours relaxing in the hot tub…

Today’s lesson… Chocolate is a poor substitute for the love of your life. But in a pinch it’ll do…

Jodie was here! Ever so briefly but he was here. I have proof. He brought chocolate. And not just any chocolate… Recchiuti, which is of course the only way to safely come home from having been in San Francisco without me. I looooove Recchiuti. One of my top two favorite chocolatiers in the world. Jodie’s off again, but at least I have chocolate to keep me company…

CaraMae is a super sneaky crafty goddess! This is the same CaraMae who baked 1600 cookies for her wedding favors. You’ve got to see them. Sooo cute! Well, sweet CarMae called to say she had a goodie for me and could she drop it by. It was this gorgeous basket full of her homemade treats! Seriously, how cute is this? And thank you CaraMae! I even managed to save a few until Jodie got home….

Truly, I never do this. But when this contest came up I had an idea playing off of two classic photos for artistic inspiration. (One of which was this shot of Jim Henson and the Muppets.) I loooove the dog photography side of my business. Dogs are where I started more than ten years ago and now I also teach in Denver and my work is included in a Design Aglow Inspire Guide for dog photography. I pinch myself every day that this is where my journey has brought me and I am so incredibly grateful to and blessed by the gentle souls who have encouraged me along the way.

Sooo, when Miller’s announced their search for the next ‘We Are Miller’s’ ad I thought why not the dogs? Why not try to get a bunch in the studio and play? Of course, I totally underestimated how hard it is for me to be in front of the camera! My amazing friend Julie Harris came in to do the shoot and after an hour of mild chaos and a lot of laughs we got the shot for our entry. Thank you soooooo much to everyone who brought their little furballs in for the fun!

Kickball… and beer (Kickin It for a Cause)

So Jodie joined a kickball league. And owing to some dear friends’ complete inability to do anything the old fashioned regular boring way… this league was started by a guy who thought the other league was a bit too serious (read: uptight). So Wednesday nights are all about the social side. Don’t have enough players to field your team? Everyone enjoys a social drink, the itty bitty team forfeits the game, and then plays anyway with whoever they can find. Dog owners who’ve ‘enjoyed a malt beverage’ are warned not to let their dogs go vampire on the balls. When it doubt? Celebrate the do over.

Munique Lhuillier Trunk Show at Anna Be

I loooooove Monique Lhuillier dresses. Almost to the point of addiction. So when Anna Be got the line and planned a trunk show to introduce the gowns I knew I wanted to be there!

As always, the women of Anna Be were beyond wonderful. It’s such an amazing place to shop for a wedding gown. Oh how I wish they had been around when I got married! And now with Sara Gabriel upstairs it’s just the perfect place for the ideal gown and your custom veil. Sadly, I can’t show photos of the terrific brides trying on their dresses. Those are a secret. But I can show you fabulous Anna Be!

The ‘rents etc…

My mom’s little sister was in town last week and wanted so have to have her sweet Billy, the Boston Terrier, on the blog. Of course if the camera comes out no one is safe. And then the stories started… Karen, my mom, swears that it was one of my childhood temper tantrums that convinced my aunt not to have children. Since my aunt does have a wonderful son, clearly mom is mistaken and I was an angel child. My brother was the root of all trouble.

Matt took Jenna on a hike up to a beautiful red rock view to propose to her. So… of course we hiked back up to get their engagement photos. Yes, me too! I’ll do anything for love. And it got even better because Jenna & Matt are totally hilarious together. Check out Matt’s huge smile. We’re off to the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel for their wedding and I’m soooo excited!

OK. So this is just cool and I can’t believe how incredibly fortunate I feel. These images are from the crazy unbridal shoot we did in Vegas last month and it has been a wild ride ever since. I remain endlessly grateful to the terrific women photographers who came out to be photographed and now to top it all off… we’ve been published in Rangefinder! Definitely time to celebrate…
