Sweet little Mabel looooves Fenway. And Fenway is a saint. Seriously. While Mabel does own a piece of my heart and did from the moment I met her, I don’t know that I could have Fenway’s patience with a humongous bulldog puppy hanging off of me every chance she gets. It must be love. And how could you not love this adorable, squishy little puddle of puppiness…

Whew! And wow! What a wonderful way to spend Valentine’s Day! There was fur everywhere and love everywhere and we even celebrated Abby’s birthday with fancy chicken treats! I know it’s a lot of exclamation points, but I just don’t know when I’ve had this much fun.

It’s almost here! For Valentine’s Day we’re gathering all the furry loves of our lives for a very special photo shoot. Whether or not you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, wife/husband, partner, spouse, lover, etc… your dog always loves you! Bring them along next Saturday for a complimentary shoot…

Saturday, February 14th
11am – 3pm
- Free mini portrait session of your dog
- Free 8×10 inch print (shipping additional)
- Lots of treats
- (Limited to the first forty dogs)

And the details…

- Be sure to bring your dog on a leash.
- Give your dog a little bit of exercise before you arrive. Not so much that he’s panting, but just a bit to take the edge off.
- Bring a favorite toy.
- We’ll have lots of treats. If your dog has allergies, please bring some treats that are safe for her.
- We will be shooting on a first come first served basis, but we’ll have little tickets for those who want to arrive at 11am to secure a spot and return a little later with their dog.

Beto… the bulldog puppy

Really, do I need to say anything else? Beside the fact that I could just bury my nose in those adorable folds of fur and he’s such a good puppy! And he fetches! I’ve never seen a bulldog do that.

Every time that I think there’s just nothing that could make being a photographer any cooler… I get to do something like this…

Helzberg Diamonds & Susan Helmich Anderson

So a little over a month ago I got a call from Tracie at Helzberg Diamonds in Kansas City and I admit that I had a moment of ‘good heavens, why are they calling me?’ What she called with was an incredible invitation. They were promoting a new line of angels and needed a photographer for the portraits of the artist. Oh my goodness what an artist! Tracie and her assistant, Katie, flew in and Shannon (one of the incredible people who assists me) and I trucked down to meet them and Susan Helmich Anderson in Monument at her studio…

Susan is… a gift, an artist, a brave soul, a caring heart, a storyteller, a mother, a teacher… so many things. I truly do not have enough words to describe the gift that the day with her was to all of us. Her hands moved like magic and she laughed and she loves Sting and she told story after story of her amazing path. As I watched her hands work in ways that were as comfortable as breathing to her, I couldn’t help but think about the things we do as photographers and the spectacular moments in peoples lives that we are invited into. Documenting an artist at work was… thrilling. Truly.

As the shoot continued in the afternoon, Susan was kind enough to hand everyone a bit of wax, her originals use the lost wax method, and invite us to play. Her open heart made it seem like the most common thing in the world that we would sculpt too. While we giggled, she wove magic creating a possible new piece for the collection right before our eyes… just a part of expressing her soul and her stories.

When the Helzberg brochures arrived today I was excited beyond measure to see what the wizzes in the marketing department had made of the photos. I just love what they did and the photos look great. But the truth of the matter is that Susan is the magic, I just got invited to try to capture it…

I looove that spring is really here! Snow in the mountains this morning not withstanding…

So we’ve been busy. Lots of shoots, tons of travel, amazing weddings, head shots, sneaking in time to shoot with friends… It seems like I never sit still! Enjoy a snippet of what we’ve been up to…

It’s just the fall of kittens. And I couldn’t be happier about it!

I love photographing pets. Heaven knows they are our furry children. One of the first gifts I gave my husband when we were dating was a coffee table book of photos of his dog. It’s incredibly important to have photos of our pets. We don’t realize how briefly they are with us.

And cats? They always present unique challenges to photograph. Boris, however, practically posed for me. Along the way to stealing my heart…

I adore these kids. Taylor & Michael & Harley stole my heart years ago. And then they added Jack… just the most adorable little Persian kitten ever! How could we not have fun…

(And Jack, by the way, is named after the mouse in Cinderella. Little kids are so cool!)
