There are a lot of reasons I’m excited to be in the new studio, not the least of which is ‘a room of one’s own‘ which I can’t deny that I think Virginia Woolf got just right… but… possibly even more than that… I am so excited to come back to where I began years ago… the dogs! Getting back into the studio in our wonderful space with loads of animals coming and going is heaven. Pure heaven. Most recently occupied by the truly charming Gus & Kenny…

and then they were done with me…

Today’s the day. The photos below are yesterday’s play…

I’m off to the inaugural of the 44th President o the United States of America!

Andria and Terri have been in our hearts for a long time and I can’t imagine life without them. When Andria invited me to photograph her mom and Hayward while they were in town I knew it was a very special time to capture. Pola had been ill for quite some time and she was a trooper the day we made photographs for her with her family. She wanted to choose the photo for her memorial. Such a dear lady, with the funniest faces that her daughter would call out. And Andria’s dad, Hayward. It was clear that Pola was his heart.

Early Christmas morning, while holding her daughter’s hand, Pola passed. As Andria put it, “Her Spirit (that mighty mighty spirit) surrendered her body.” Thousands of miles away and I know there were many of us overwhelmed by tears when the news came.

This is for Pola. There are just two more days this year to photograph the people you love. It’s important, really important. Go get that camera now.

I’ll never forget the first time we said I love you and I still can’t believe that I get to spend my life with you. Here’s to a lifetime together…

We have an historic opportunity today. Either way, we are making a huge decision about the direction our country will take. Jodie and I will be out and about delivering lunch and dinner to poll watchers and attorneys monitoring the vote. We plan to deliver treats to the people who we are sure will be waiting in line even after the polls close at seven o’clock this evening. We’ve got to do something with the ridiculous amount of Halloween candy we have leftover!

What should I do before I go?

- After you’ve entered your info at Vote for Change of Vote 411 read the voting instructions and special rules for your state.
- Voting laws vary state by state. Be sure to bring ID.
- There are voting myths to be aware of. If you’re concerned, check out this link.

What if something goes wrong?

- Not on the voter list? Make sure you’re at the right polling place, then request a provisional ballot. It’s your right to receive one. If they verify that you are eligible then your vote will be counted after the polls close. In Colorado, if you didn’t receive your mail in ballot, you can also request a provisional ballot at your polling place.
- If you’re voting on an electronic machine with a paper record, verify that that record is accurate.
- If you think you need legal assistance, call the nonpartisan 1-866-OUR-VOTE. Attorneys for both parties are also planning to be at many polling places to make sure that no one is limited from their right to vote.
